Professional Work Experience:
1) Currently principal at Madison Crossing Elementary (since 2006)
2) Previous position was as principal at East Flora Elementary School in Madison County (2001-2006) prior to coming to Madison Crossing Elementary.
3) Prior to joining Madison County Schools, she was an assistant professor at Mississippi College in Clinton in the "Teacher Education" department (1996-2001). She taught reading, language arts and general teaching methods classes to both undergraduate and graduate students. She supervised student teachers in all of the Madison County Elementary schools.
4) Worked as a "Literacy Support Specialist" in Jackson Public Schools. Primary responsibilities included conducting professional development sessions, providing demonstration lessons in various elementary classrooms and supporting teachers as they worked towards "inclusion of best practices" in their own teaching.
5) Taught in regular education classes in both Jackson, Mississippi (JPS) and Monroe, Louisiana (Ouachita Parish School District) ranging from first grade to sixth grade.
Education:
1) Received a B.A. in Elementary Education from Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, Louisiana (1987).
2) Received a M.Ed. in Administration and Supervision from Northeast Louisiana in Monroe, Louisiana (1989).
3) Received a Ph.D. in Elementary Curriculum with an emphasis in Reading and a minor concentration in Educational Leadership (1997).
4) Completed the Madison County Chamber of Commerce's "Leadership Madison County" (2006).
Honors:
Presented "Outstanding Young Educator of the Year" by the Jackson Jaycees in 1993 and was nominated to win "Outstanding Young Jacksonian of the Year" from all of the service award recipients in 1993.
Family and Childhood:
Mother of 2 daughters: Sidney (13) and Shelby (9) who will both attend Madison Crossing Elementary and Middle Schools. She has been married for 16 years to Dan D'Amico. They have been residents of the Gluckstadt community for 10 years and are active in their community and church.
