Congratulations to two outstanding teachers at Madison Crossing Elementary and Middle Schools:
Martha Hanna - MCSD Teacher of the Year and
Deborah Crane - MCSD Middle School Teacher of the Year
Ms. Hanna is the Madison County School District Teacher of the Year and the District's nominee
for Mississippi Teacher of the Year. Ms. Hanna holds a BLS in Elementary Education from
Mississippi State University and a certification in Gifted Education from Mississippi College. She
received her National Board Certification in 2003. Ms. Hanna currently teaches 2nd grade at
Madison Crossing Elementary and serves as the Grade Level Chairperson. Ms. Hanna served on
the Teacher Support Team establishing a process for implementing classroom interventions and
was chosen to be a presenter at the Mississippi State Reading Fair.
Ms. Crane is the Madison County Middle School Teacher of the Year. Ms. Crane holds a BLS in
Elementary Education from Millsaps College, and a MS in Education with a Specialization in
Technology from Walden University. She also received Gifted Certification and Special Education
Certification at Millsaps College. Ms. Crane currently teaches Gifted Education at Madison
Crossing Middle School. She also teaches Art, Computer, Creative Writing, Yearbook, and
maintains the school web site. Ms. Crane was a presenter at the National Association for Gifted
Children Annual Conference in Charlotte, NC.
Madison Crossing is "Building a new generation of Jags" by beginning our mission with the best

Stephanie Petry
MCE 3rd Grade
Miss Stephanie Petry grew up in
Texas and graduated from
Baylor University with a degree
in Elementary Education. After
graduation, she taught 5th
grade for four years before
moving to Mississippi. She has
been teaching 3rd grade at MCE
for the past two years and has
received four grants to help
accumulate manipulatives for
the school.

sponsor of the Dance Team. As
a member of the PTO, she
serves on the board as the
teacher liaison.

Team!!!Madison Crossing placed 6th out of
32 teams in the regional Louisiana,
Mississippi, and West Alabama tournament
held at Columbus, MS on Saturday. The
events questions were written at a high
school level in math, life, earth, general,
and physical science. Some of the questions
even proved challenging for the sponsors.
The team was composed of Charlie
Dankers, Jared Powell, Matthew Riddle,
Shanu Moorthy and Ben Caldwell.
